The photographic series, titled Girl geniuses I-III (2020) draws inspiration from the importance given to blood in traditional initiation rites for girls. To create the series, I used my own blood, pouring it into a porcelain bowl filled with water and stirring it in circles with a spatula. Creating art using my own blood, helped me deal with my own contradictory feelings towards menstruation and old menstrual taboos.

Through this visual narrative, I aim to promote the idea of female blood as a positive force and a key element in Little Red Riding Hood’s transformation from innocence to maturity.
