article-based dissertation

I write three articles for my dissertation. The first article "From Rape Trauma to Genius through Narration in Contemporary Narratives of Little Red Riding Hood" (2021) was published in the British fairy tale journal Gramarye, issue 20. The article examines trauma narration in Paula Rego's illustration series Little Red Riding Hood Suite, Margaret Atwood's novel The Handmaid's Tale, Tanith Lee's short story "Wolfland," and Francesca Lia Block's short story "Wolf." The second article "Grandmas Do Worse" was published in NORA in 2022, and the third article is forthcoming in 2023.

A preliminary article of my research, "Woman in Red and the Abject in Unni Lindell’s Crime Thriller 'Rødhette'" was published in VAKKI in 2016. 'Rødhette' was written by Norwegian author Unni Lindell in 2004 and has not been translated into English yet. The thriller is about Judith Marner, who is a survivor of rape and incest and who starts to kill men whom she finds abusive in her adolescent years, as a way to cope with trauma. Eventually, Judith overcomes trauma and falls in love, which ends her murder cycle.
